Carroll County to Establish First Public Charter School with $1.6 Million Grant

Carroll County is set to inaugurate its first public charter school after receiving a significant grant of $1.6 million. The newly funded school, Carroll Classical Charter School, aims to open its doors in the fall of 2026, initially serving students in kindergarten through sixth grade, with plans to expand to kindergarten through eighth grade by 2028.

This initiative was among a select number of schools across the state awarded funding in this round, highlighting community confidence in its innovative educational model. Danielle Daley, Treasurer of the Carroll Learning Alliance, expressed enthusiasm about the award, stating, "Being awarded this grant demonstrates a vote of confidence in our schools model, the dedication of our founders, the governance structure, and the commitment of CLAs to serving the broader Carroll County community."

The grant appreciation aligns with federal budget proposals that advocate increased funding for public charter schools, emphasizing support for diverse educational options and community-based schooling initiatives in the region.
