Man Arrested, Allegedly Threatened Mass Violence Against Former Workplace

An Annapolis man has been taken into custody and charged with making threats of mass violence and arson after allegedly warning against violence targeted at his former employer in Queen Anne's County. Authorities issued an arrest warrant for 23-year-old Joshua Broomfield last Friday, and he voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement earlier this week.

The Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office reported receiving a complaint about the threats on Thursday, May 1. According to a statement released by the Sheriff's Office, the severity of the threats prompted the impacted business to notify law enforcement authorities promptly.

Joshua Broomfield is currently being detained without bond and is scheduled for a trial in late June. The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to assess the situation.
