Baltimore Businessman Announces His Intent to Seek Maryland Gubernatorial Office

A prominent Baltimore businessman has announced his plans to run for governor of Maryland. Ed Hale, who grew up in East Baltimore, is the owner of the Baltimore Blast soccer team and has a background as a long-time city banker. He intends to formalize his candidacy in the upcoming weeks.

Hale recently made the decision to remain in Maryland rather than relocating to New Hampshire to pursue his gubernatorial ambitions. The Democratic candidate expressed concerns regarding the state's economic development and emphasized his goal to enhance Maryland's competitiveness with neighboring states.

If elected, Hale has outlined key priorities including making Maryland more business-friendly, reforming juvenile justice systems, and addressing budget shortfalls without increasing taxes. He plans to submit his campaign paperwork within the next two weeks.

Currently, Republican John Myrick is the only candidate who has officially filed paperwork with the state's board of elections. Myrick hails from Prince George's County, has served as a veteran in the U.S. Air Force Reserves, and was previously a sheriff's deputy in Harford County.

The Maryland gubernatorial election is scheduled for November of next year.
